The Wheel of Art and the Border of Death:
drawing and painting - constellatory and shamanic art for healing
Do you ever get stuck in life or lose energy? May it be that you lost it a long time ago and have not found yet? Or you may have people like this in your life - your loved ones, clients, students - and they ask you for help to get unstuck?
Has this ever coincided for you with big events in your life - like loss of loved ones, big dreams that were not to be, prolonged illness (your own or of your loved ones), experiencing or witnessing medical trauma, including in childbirth and other things?
Have it ever been to the point of where you lost a sense of meaning in your life?
Do you sometimes cannot imagine your future at all, or maybe you have people who cannot in your life?
Do you ever support people who get "stuck" in such situations and cannot get unstuck, and lose their sense of meaning and direction in their lives, and it escapes you what else you can do to help?
If you want to learn how to "get unstuck" with Art methods and how (if you support others as a therapist, constellator, midwife, doula, coach etc) to help others, I invite you to join me on this two-day course.
During the course we will explore in line, colour (if you wish) and words (in no particular order):
1) Moving through the Seasons of Life: The Border on the Wheel Method
2) Recovering and Taking Back our Gifts and Talents Method
3) Where we cannot draw or utilise the Resources - the Tree of Life Method
4) Losing Hope and Regaining Hope Method: for when parts of us get stuck in being neither-dead-or-alive (when the hope and energy are stuck and/or lost)
5) "Drawing the Line" Method: We and Our Loved Ones who Passed Away
How will we do it?
- Demonstrations - your Instructor, Olga Nguyen (a qualified Art Therapist, Certified Nonviolent Communication Trainer, and Constellator) will take you through the demonstrations and will answer your questions
- Guided body-based "tuning in" exercises - before we start with these body-based art methods
- Your own practice during the session, supported by your instructor.
- Sharings - totally up to you and many of the past students enjoyed sharing their artwork and expressing what they were seeing there and hearing others' gifts from their sharings
- Q&A Sessions
When?
This is a pre-recorded course - you can start straight away and watch the recordings at your own speed and access Olga's support and coaching via asking questions and if need be, posting your work in this course's classroom.
Do I need to draw or paint or be "arty" to follow this course?
This course is about expressing yourself through line and shapes and colours, and using line and colour for the purposes of achieving greater self-understanding and wholeness. It gives an alternative or support to verbal expression when words alone are not enough. I have had many students who have never created any art before, thought that they were not "talented" - and they enjoyed the courses and the methods and this way of self-expression. The bonus of this course is that it is ONLINE - so UNLESS you want to share, no-one, myself included, will see your process or your art work - whilst many of our students enjoy sharing their process or the outcome, ask questions or ask me to support or guide them when they get stuck.
What art materials do I need?
Whatever paper, pens and crayons/pencils you have at home are sufficient for our purposes. If you only have a pen and paper and/or do not want to use colours, you can work in black-and-white - see below.
If you want to experiment with different art materials, I will work in waterproof brushpen, liner, synthetic flat brush(es) and gouache (water-based opaque medium). I will list the materials in the first lesson of the curriculum before the course, so that you can have a look and decide in advance.
If you want to learn the foundations of this medium on top of the methods, I will be sharing gouache techniques and tips as we are going along. If you are curious how gouache looks, it is in the pictures on this page. Gouache exists in different range of prices and brands, so you can get it at very affordable prices. If you used it at school or kindergarten and hated it as I did - here's a chance to transform it alongside everything else :).
Is this an instructor's course?
Whilst this is not an instructor's course, if you are an instructor, course facilitator, art therapist etc and feel like you have integrated the methods enough to share them with others, I acknowledge that many students do that, to the degree they are comfortable to take responsibility for guiding others through the methods in this way.
At the same time, the days of the course count towards your instructor's certification if you are pursuing it online.
Where does this method come from?
You can see more here - https://nvcheart.teachable.com/blog/137545/neuroart-origins . And in brief, it is my fusion of my own art practice and learnings since the 80ies, my art therapy studies, Resonant Healing methods by Sarah Peyton and constellatory learnings via Sarah Peyton and Elena Veselago.
